Advocate in Residence

Connecting the community to our mission through art.

Family Advocates works to strengthen families and keep kids safe by empowering everyday people to protect and enrich the lives of youth. We are a private, independent 501 (c)(3) non-profit agency founded in 1978 and serving Southwest Idaho. Our founders, two foster parents that saw the need for advocacy for children, established a long-term vision of seeing the end of child abuse in Idaho.

The team at Family Advocates is seeking a partnership with an artist to bring our stories to the community. With our CASA program we serve children of abuse, neglect, and abandonment and aim to decrease these rising numbers through our BabySteps, Parent Support Groups, and Youth Enhancement programs. Through collaboration, we can raise awareness for the great need in the Treasure Valley.

Call for Submissions

Beginning June 1, 2017, we will be accepting proposals from artists working in all media. Chosen artists will receive a stipend of $1,000 for their contribution to our organization. This amount constitutes full payment for services, including necessary materials for the creation of the work. The proposal should be a onetime creation that can be used for many years for our program's promotional purposes. The artist should be willing to meet periodically with the Sustainability Committee to inform or request support, and will introduce the proposal to board and staff. The artist will be able to use space in our office if needed but must be willing to sign a release of intellectual property. There may be opportunities to meet with organizational donors. 50% of the stipend will be paid at the contract signing and the remainder at the time of project completion. The artist may need a professional photographer to create high-resolution digital files of their piece—please work with the organization on this point.
